Seven Qualities of a Biblical Disciple

In the Great Commission, Jesus told us to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations. But what does it mean to make disciples? And more to the point, what exactly is a disciple?
A disciple is a learner, a pupil; one who adheres to instruction, making what is taught the rule of conduct through life application.

Listed here are seven “biblical” qualities of a disciple:
1) The disciple comes to Jesus without reservation {Luke 14:26-27}. Jesus calls us all to a “costly” commitment.

2) A disciple submits to Jesus’ teaching John 8:31-32}. Those of us that are truly Jesus’ disciples know the true.

3) A disciple displays love to those in Jesus’ Church {John 13:34-35}.

4) A disciple is committed to imitating Jesus {Matthew 10:24-25}. Jesus must be “formed” in us. It has been said: “Imitation is the highest form of admiration.”

5) A disciple is committed to bearing fruit. The disciple of Jesus thinks about fruit {John 15:8}.

6) The disciple let’s Jesus provide for them, and they provide for others {John 13:5-17}.

7) A disciple knows who Jesus is, and knows Jesus’ plan for making additional disciples {Matthew 28:19-20}.

The following is a statement of truth: every disciple is a Christian, but not every Christian is necessarily a disciple. So, before we can make disciples, we have to be sure that we ourselves are one, because it takes one to make one.
